We are committed to helping students understand how an individual develops throughout their life span and how the Health and Social Care Sector can support individuals at different life stages.
Unit 1 - Human Lifespan Development allows students to understand the life stages that an individual passes through and how their development in all areas changes. Students will also be exploring the different factors that can influence an individual’s development both positively and negatively. This will be tested via two written assignments.
Unit 2 - Health and Social Care Values introduces students to the values that underpin the care with the Health & Social Care sector and how current legislation supports these values. This will be tested via one written assignment and two filmed and assessed role plays.
Unit 3 - Health and Wellbeing Learners will study the factors that affect health and wellbeing, learning about physiological and lifestyle indicators, and how to design a health and wellbeing improvement plan. This is assessed, along with content from components 1 & 2, via a written exam in the February and/or May of year 11.
The course follows the BTEC Tech Level1/level 2 Health and Social Care curriculum; a new course to be first examined in 2019.
